Benefiting from an easterly and south-easterly aspect, the Steinerts enjoy ideal exposure to the morning sun. The accumulated heat on the stony scree-slopes (hence the name Steinert), ensures that the grapes ripen in a uniform manner. This dry soil is highly calcareous and acts as a filter. These conditions make it possible to produce excellent wines for laying-down, with well-developed aromas, featuring a certain degree of acidity and floral overtones. In particular, two grape varieties predominate: Gewurztraminer and Pinot gris. The latter ensure that the wines are delightfully dense and full-bodied. Their bouquet is creamy and somewhat reminiscent of honey. These are wines which achieve a perfect balance between their concentration, fruit and finesse.
